Read if: you want a whodunit with multiple povs, interested in Sri Lankan culture/representation, like unreliable/unlikable main characters, want a lighter mystery that doesn’t go too deep into some heavier themes, want to explore the complexities of female friendship.  

Don’t Read If: you want a fast paced story(this is more of a slow burn), you easily get confused with a large cast of characters, if you’re sensitive to self harm, if you find most mysteries predictable.

I thought this a fun and twisty thriller. Most of the characters felt well developed, though one of the main characters felt a little undercooked to me. Characters were definitely unlikeable, but in a way that was interesting and suited a thriller.

Really disappointing. Empty-headed completely unklikeaboe characters, and instead of a mystery it was more of a bait-and-switch by the author. Also, TONS of tw… just don’t expect an enjoyable mystery from this one.

This was an okay read for me! A little slower paced in the first half, most characters were unlikeable (but I think that was the point for a whodunnit), and definitely twisty at the end. The main twist at the end was darker than I thought it was going to get and caught me off guard. On page descriptions of some harmful things, so I would check content warnings! The descriptions of Sri Lankan culture and the family drama at a wedding made for an interesting backdrop to the mystery. Audiobook was a plus for me since I would not have known pronunciation for names and some translated phrases.
