What I loved:

✨Environmental Science: Each Survival Secret offers factual tidbits about our environment. Perfect for teaching science in an unconventional way!

✨Life Lessons: Readers witness firsthand how words matter. The way you treat people matters. Apologizing when you’re wrong matters. I love this quote, “…you can't take the bad things back. You need to figure out a way to move forward.” And finally, forgiveness matters.

✨Narration: Michael Crouch!! I love everything he added to the story - well-timed humor (yes, I laughed out loud), softer tones when the member of the gang realized they hurt a friend’s feelings, and the range of his voice from Uncle Hornsby (mm-hmm) and baby Vivi (calling Turner “Turd-er”). If you have a road trip with your kids, listen to this audiobook!!

So this book was a giant scavenger hunt with consequences. Which helped the kids for sure in the book.

I did like the survival tip sheets because they actually had good information. And maybe a kid reading this will remember it in a time of need.

I also thought it was great this this book showed that video games can teach certain skills and bits of information.

Vivi’s baby speech was good. Almost too good. I took me forever to figure out what’s she was saying.

Fun and lighthearted. At its core, this is a story about friendship and the importance of appreciating ones differences.

Lots of action and adventure. And lots of survival. This book is actually a great resource for learning about many rudimentary outdoor survival skill. You just never know when that little bit of extra knowledge could be the ticket to survival.

Great story and a great undercover educational resource.
