Camille, the last book of the Verhoeven-trilogy, started so intense and brutal, and the vivid descriptions made me invested at first. Unfortunately it didn’t last.

My two main issues with this book was that
1) the same details were repeated way too much, distracting me from the plot.
2) the narration shifted a lot between the characters, but without separating them in a coherent way, which was confusing at times.

Alex, the second book of the trilogy, was a thrilling masterpiece in my opinion, so I expected more of the final book. But I’m still happy I finished the series

Not as strong as Lemaitre's previous efforts but still a good story with a few twists.

Tal vez así sufras lo mucho que yo sufrí en las 37 primeras páginas de este libro. La tensión en esas páginas me causaron dolor casi físico, y casi acabaron con mis uñas, mi sueño y mi estabilidad emocional en general.

Te alegrará saber --porque sospecho que eres un sádico por el obvio deleite con el que describes y desarrollas escenas de tensión-- que no pude dejar de leer tu historia, temiendo en todo momento que los personajes principales murieran. O algo peor.

También te alegrará saber que una vez más caí en tu giro de guión como una pardilla. A ver, era obvio que había gato encerrado, pero no fui capaz de captarlo en toda su magnitud. Lo cual me molesta, porque una vez descubierto el giro, este era muy obvio, pillín.

Lo único malo (para ti, para mi corazón fue muy bueno) es que en las páginas finales, cuando ya conocemos todos los secretos y tramas, la tensión baja mucho y el final es algo anticlimático. Aunque es curioso cómo todo al final forma un círculo perfecto con la primera novela de la trilogía "Iréne" (que desgraciadamente no he leído). Supongo que quieres que los lectores lean la trilogía entera, por eso vuelves a repetir la trama de esa primera novela con pelos y señales, por si había alguien despistado.

Con todo, ha sido una montaña rusa loca, pero muy disfrutable, y espero con impaciencia cualquier novela tuya que vayas a escribir o que las editoriales tengan a bien publicar en España.

Things haven't changed for me much from the first book to this one. Not a fan of the writing. It's too short and choppy for my liking. It works sometimes, yes, but all the time? Not for me. I don't like Camille. Sorry, I just don't. I feel disconnected from him the whole time and I find the other characters more interesting. He would have made a great side character, in my opinion.

Again, it took ages for this book to speed up. Literally, it wasn't until 70% where this book really picked up and showed the cards it should have had from ~50%. That way, I could have been shouting at the book the whole time instead of struggling through it. It reads fast, but boy was it boring for me. I had been hoping to read it all yesterday, however I was just too bored of it. Boredom really doesn't motivate me to read fast, especially since I know I need to read pretty carefully to catch everything.

It starts off rather randomly. I still don't know what happened to Armand. If it happened in the second book, I was more focused on Alex's character than Camille. The same for this one. It should have been titled Anne.

Or Irene II since it so heavily focused on the events in that book.

It was all about him. Too bad I don't like him, so I found the other POVs more interesting and probably spaced out a lot of important info. Oops.

Still, I want to read [b:Rosy & John|18271724|Rosy & John|Pierre Lemaitre|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1375226722s/18271724.jpg|25735922]... once it gets translated to English. Because I can't read French and don't know enough Spanish to feel comfortable reading it that way since it's been translated to that language already.
