When I started volume one, I didn’t except this manga to focus this much on the basket-ball aspect, which isn’t a bad thing.
In this volume, Mayo is not only listening to Aoba’s problems but also to Tsuyoshi, another member of the basket-ball team and Matsumae who is, along with Mayo, the manager of the team. The two of them have radical problems,Tsuyoshi thinks he is pathetic because he is short and that first-year students have an overall better level than him. But Mayo alongside Aoba is going to show him that he has other quality, such as a better stamina than the rest of the team. While, Matsumae is in love with the team captain but relationships are not allowed. but Mayo still managed to help them.
Toyama is slowly introducing us to the other members of the team since the first volume focuses mainly on Aoba. It was nice to see the friendship between Nao and Aoba which I guess will develop in the later volumes.
The romance is also slowly developing here and the volume ends with a revelation. I’m giving this volume two stars because I’m not a big fan of romance which I find too cliché but also because I have trouble connecting with the story and the characters, but it’s just a me thing and I know that this shojo could appeal to other people.
