This was a tough one to read. Not in the way that it was badly written or anything but with how much Detail Heather Dune Macadam did her best to have all the facts and tell the stories of these girls. My heart breaks for them all and it’s still so hard to fathom this all went on. But it did and this is the proof of that. It’s a heart wrenching read but do yourself a favor. Read it. Know their stories, keep them alive.

I didn’t realize there was a holocaust story I hadn’t read. Absolutely incredible!!!

This was an extraordinary tale of courage and survival in the midst of unspeakable horrors. I’ve read a lot of books about the Holocaust, and they never fail to make me shudder in horror and simultaneously marvel at the fact that people were able to survive. I enjoyed the narrative format of this nonfiction book, as well as the photographs and afterword detailing the real people in the book. At times, it was a bit tough to follow just because a lot of the names were very similar.

This book took awhile to read. Not because of the writing, but because what was written. I am afraid we, as a society, are forgetting the atrocities that have occurred in this world's past. We need to read books like this, remember and then never forget. We need to learn from the past. We can't change it but we can make sure it never happens again.
This book is a necessary read, heart breaking and gut wrenching.

This was a very difficult read simply because of the content. I had to give myself breaks to allow the emotions that arose to be tended. I listened to this book and am grateful for this option so that I heard names pronounced correctly. I will never understand how we can treat people like this.
