I tend to dislike memoirs; I just don't find them very exciting or interesting. If you've never read about the life of a black man in America, though, this would be worth reading.

I read this quite a while ago. Odd mystery for it's time.

3.5

3.5 starts because this is highly likely the inspo of all detective novels that we know and love. This is also the first work I've read from Edgar Allan Poe.

The language was a obviously a challenge for me at the beginning because this is as classic as classic books can be. However, once you get used to it, you'd then be able to enjoy the detective work of Dupin. I enjoyed the gore and who-dun-it aspects of this story.

I didn't expect that reveal AT ALL.

Heartmoor: the primal longing for a home village to return to, a place that no longer exists, if it ever did.

So many beautiful emotions captured in this book. I read it cover to cover and will now leave it on the coffee table to dip into when I need to feel.
