While Johnson does at times lean on some of the sam elements of the earlier work in this series he does write an interesting and compelling murder mystery.

Although I would not say the Longmire mysteries are great works of literature, they are fun, easy, and fast reads. The characters are consistent and well developed --- even in the early novels like this one. I'm looking forward to the next.

Lucius Connally, the ex-sheriff of Absaroka County and Walt Longmire’s old boss, asks Walt to look into the death of an old Basque woman named Mari in an assisted-living home. Before he even finds out she was poisoned, Walt discovers she used to be Lucius’s wife. With a backdrop of the stunning Wyoming vistas and the usual recurring characters, the Longmire series continues to be entertaining.

I just love this series. In this one, we learn more about Lucian Connelly and his brief marriage to Mari Baroja many years before.

Maybe an even better book the second time around! This is the one where Sancho and Double Tough join up.

I love all of these books. This one introduces Sancho and Double Tough (I'd forgotten about how Double Tough and where he'd came from. All of these are good and all have great storylines and characters. Read them in order if you haven't started yet! This was an audiobook read by George Guidall and he does a great job!

Again, with this book, it is the characters that pulled me in. The mystery that needed solving was nicely layered so that every small part that got solved led to a bit deeper mystery. Then it all got wrapped up. I like the people of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Looking forward to another visit there.
