Though it is in parts entertaining, the title describes perfectly how I felt reading this book. Like other have pointed out, this narrative is very much a product of its time, treating the majority of its female characters as little more than sexual objects and its queer characters as jokes. While I'm sure the exploration of Parisian culture through English eyes has its values, I cannot imagine myself recommending this book to anyone — slightly ironic after I read this book only because it was recommended to me.
Graphic: Body shaming, Cursing, Misogyny, Transphobia, Excrement, and Alcohol
Minor: War and Deportation
