And people say that fanfiction is a modern phenomenon... This and Solario's painting are prime examples of early fan works.

This was the first play of Oscar Wilde’s I have ever read. I was very interested in all the historical references and religious elements. In addition I found the protective relationship between the mother Herodias and Salome. The language was beautiful and Aubrey Beardsley’s illustrations were stunning.
