This book was super cute and spicy.

I love anything Rebekah Weatherspoon writes.

I read a few books by Rebekah Weatherspoon a while back (last year, more than?, before I was regularly writing reviews) and enjoyed them - so when this audiobook popped up in my suggested listens, I jumped on it.

I loved that Sloan is a strong, intelligent, educated female lead. I love that Rafe is somehow simultaneously Alpha & respectful/anti-misogynistic/intuitive. Sloan is black and Rafe is white - but the interracial aspect doesn't overwhelm the story, mostly due to the fact that Rafe's step-mom & half-sisters are black. So it just is. They're both super awesome with Sloan's twin daughters. I like that the kids aren't this static "prop" that disappear for 90% of the story. They are an integral, regular, & realistic part of the book. However, when Sloan & Rafe are alone - whew! Weatherspoon can write some dirty talking sex scenes. Earbuds in public for this one.

The only conflict is external, and mostly in the form of Sloan's ex. This would be best enjoyed when you're looking for lots of sexy times, low angst relationship building, super adorable, opposites attract, these MC's know how to communicate listen.

This was my first time listening to a narration by Lacy Laurel and I really enjoyed it. She has a great range of emotions and character voices. Definitely adding her to my list of narrators to keep an eye out for.

Reading this book completed one of the quests for Pondathon II.

This is a refreshing book, I haven't encountered a lot of romance books with male nannies. However, as much as I love romance, no matter how cliche and repetitive they get, I can never fully enjoy a novel that involves insta-love. To some degree, I can look the other way, but it dampens my enjoyment nonetheless. This book was lust-driven, the characters were attracted to each other, and a few days after they were falling in love already. It doesn't work 100% but I can wrap my head around it, I think seeing your potential partner interact with the most important people in your life (in this case, Dr. Copeland's twin daughters) is one of the valid reasons to fall in love.

The scenes where both characters spend a night out with their friends separately confused me. I couldn't keep up with the conversations happening between these people and that took me out of the story for quite a while.

The beginning was slow-paced in my opinion, it was a bit boring since there wasn't much going on except watching Sloan and Rafe deal with their attraction for each other. I was expecting more scenes of Rafe interacting with the twins and the ones that were in the book just weren't enough for me.

One thing I truly loved about this book was how strong and independent Sloan was written. She was dedicated to her career, she loves being a mom and enjoys even the most challenging times with her kids. I love how she acknowledges her flaws and the avenues where she falls short, like starting a relationship.

This book is definitely a romance novel, but I love the inclusion of family relationships outside of the main characters' budding romantic relationships. Seeing how both characters were surrounded by tight-knit families but with a different approach to expressing support and love to their families -- Rafe's was very relaxed and supportive, while Sloan's was more strict, yet both families managed to express their love. It's one of the aspects that I truly enjoyed in this book, I honestly appreciated it more than the romance.

I'm intrigued with Xeni's book so I might pick that up some time this month as well.

This was just okay. Honestly, I feel this is over-hyped.
It felt the romance just started out of nowhere.
The dialogue was stilted and awkward at times.

I made the mistake of listening to the audiobook which dampened my enjoyment. There should have been a male narrator for Rafe's point of view and secondly the narrator added no colour to Rafe's voice. Whether he was happy, sad, speaking to the kids or getting it on with Sloane, he always sounded like he was in a doctor's waiting room.

I read this book in one day bc it’s short and quick-paced and SO steamy. It was a wild ride from start to finish.
I picked it up bc I wanted to read another romance novel but one that was more adult than “Red White and Royal Blue”, just to see if I did really like the genre.
I definitely like the genre and think they are so fun to read. I probably wouldn’t read this again, as it didn’t have a ton of substance other than the plot itself (as was somewhat expected), but it was fun to read as something to do for a night.

You know what was great about this book?   The last 10% of it when there wasn’t sex in every corner of it.
