Good book, up until the final chapters. The ending is unsatisfying, unrealistic and just dumb. So dumb it ruins the whole book.

This one is a little uneven at times, but I really enjoy the author's writing style. I also didn't know where the heck this story was going or where it would end up until the last chapter.

I wish I could have given this book 3.5 stars, as it deserved a little more than just a 3. The story was well-told, but the ending became predictable about halfway through. There were some twists and turns that added to the "whodunit" nature of the book, but I still think it fell short when it came to the ending. Overall, a decent read.

I can't recall when I read the first in this loose trilogy set in an Weymouth village but it was not difficult to immerse myself in the world again where we focus on a young police constable on the perifery as the big city police are called in to investigate a suspicious death of a vulnerable woman but as the plot thickens his local knowledge becomes invaluable.
Definitely a page turner and with the character from bk 1 appearing briefly and the ending leaving a lot of questions about the future direction of the stories I will not be leaving book 3 as long to read.

I really wanted to like this book and I partly did but there were some painfully slow chapters. it actually took me a few chapters to put it all together and then I just wanted to get to the end. I will say that it was written well just a bit too long.

Dark Side is the second in the Exmoor trilogy by the excellent Belinda Bauer and having inadvertently read the third before this one, I had an idea of how some storylines would end. I wasn't expecting how it happened!!!
The premise is simple. Elderly residents of a village are dying. Village Bobby helps big city cops to find out why. It's a whodunit as cops hunt killer and very entertaining it is as well. You care about certain characters and dislike certain others. You forge opinions about who the bad guy is and why and the come the last few "days" when it all comes together and wow!!
Brilliant read as always with Belinda Bauer and one that I'll not forget in a while.
