Small town reliving old and painful memories, secrets, in a dramatic and well paced thriller.
The author Ashley Tate did a really
good job while telling the story about a traumatized community that experienced tragedy, in the search for the truth.
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a little lackluster for me. It starts out strong with Phoebe's death, and I wanted to know what happened to her. But then, we jump ahead ten years and the pace slowed down. I would not consider this to be a thriller. It is a relationship drama. It's about secrets and grief and how to move on from that. One character is suffering from mental illness and another is grieving deeply. How they were handling the anniversary of Phoebe's death was more of a focus than the actual mystery.
Readers who love dark, character-driven stories will love this, However, this should not be described as a thriller. It is not a thriller, and readers who are expecting a thriller will be disappointed. There is a twist at the end, but I believe readers who frequently read thrillers will see it coming.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this advance review copy. All opinions are my own.

Twenty-Seven Minutes takes place 10 years after a deadly accident, where a promising teen was killed, but her brother who was driving waited 27 minutes to call for help.
The premise for this book was promising, but it didn’t really follow through. None of the characters were likable, the dialogue was clunky, and the biggest mystery of the book was why an entire town is still so obsessed with an accident that happened ten years ago. Unfortunately this one fell flat for me.

I received as an arc, it never grabbed my attention or sucked me into the world. I wasn’t really interested in the mystery enough to want to continue.

I had a hard time connecting to the characters in this book. I wasn't invested in what happened until halfway through the story. I did like that the chapters are short and that they alternate POV between the main characters affected by the accident and that we alternate between the present and the past. I was not able to guess the ending of this story, so that was a great surprise.

This is the first book I remember reading in which none of the characters are likable.
