Good story, and Lisa Scottoline is a good author. Other author's interest me more though and spin a tale better.

Chris Brennan just moved to the small town of Central Valley in Pennsylvania and is the new teacher and basketball coach at the high school. The perfect all around guy, or so it seems.
From the first page you know that he's not who or what he says he is and as he sets out to pit friends against friends you are left wondering his agenda. Players on the team, Raz, Jordan and Evan all with their own family problems fall right into his hands. What kind of dangerous game is Chris playing and who will fall because of it?
Scottoline as always delivers a fast paced thriller full of good characters, lots of suspense and an ending I did not see coming!

Was very hard for me to get into. Usually her books have me addicted!! I was suprised of the plot of the story- definitely not what i was imagining at first. The details and commentary could have you thinking of a few different scenarios. I listened to the audio book and followed along. Not my favorite book of hers.

Nicely paced - too many false leads maybe but all in all it worked.

Chris Brennan arrives in a small town in Pennsylvania to teach Government at a high school and be assistant coach for their Baseball team. From the outset it is made clear that Brennan will not be staying long in this role and that he has some dark plans for his time at Central Valley High School. I found the first few chapters of this novel quite challenging as I really had no idea where the story was going. As it develops further it becomes more clear that Brennan is absolutely not what he seems and that his plans may not be either.
I'm a huge fan of books set in small-town America and it surprised me how much this was an element of this book. We get to know the Brennan's fellow teachers at the school and the young people that Brennan teaches and their families. Brennan needs help from one of the young people on his team and he identifies Jordan, Raz and Evan as the most likely to be able to fulfill the role he will demand of them. Each boy has family issues and these are explored through their mother's points of view. Ultimately each mother is trying to keep her family together and do the very best for their boy but each woman is on a different path and this impacts on each boy too.
It's very hard to discuss this novel without giving away the massive twist within the story and it would be unfair of me to do so. Suffice to say that I actually couldn't put this book down. I read it on a recent camping trip and couldn't rest until it was finished. It's a tightly plotted, dramatic and action packed book, with a thrilling denouement. Scottoline weaves the story's web so skilfully. I would highly recommend it..

I was invested and excited in the beginning really expecting a juicy plot. As I read through, I realized it was not what I expected but also pretty disappointing. The description of the book led me to believe it was going to be a tough case to solve and it just went downhill for me.

My wife first recommended Lisa Scottoline books to me. She asked me to request this book from NetGalley and she read it first. She and I both give it 4 out of 5 stars. I have read 8 Scottoline books and my wife twice as many or more. She is reading a Scottoline book even as I write this. It starts with a bad guy identified right off the bat, but my wife said there's more to it. There more than a few twists and turns, but there is a very satisfactory ending.
I can't say too much more without going into spoiler territory. Some elements in this book: sexting by teenagers, a truck bomb and a dedicated ATF(Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) agent. There are a couple of typos--Glynco is misspelled as Glencoe. I spent some time training there and it is spelled Glynco. At one point a character is described as going from death to diagnosis in two months.
I recommend it to Scottoline fans. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me this book.
