This book made the Da Vinci Code seem like a Pulitzer. I should have stopped after an hour but I slogged through all 20+ hours of the audio book and totally did it to myself. There were parts that were genuinely interesting but overall it was needlessly long and convoluted.
Moderate: Body shaming, Fatphobia, Sexual content, Xenophobia, Islamophobia, Murder, Pregnancy, and Classism

I’ve read this book countless times. The first at 15 in 1991. It has always grabbed me and been something I think back on. When reading other books With similar topics I think back to this and how they did it better or I learned it then.
This was written in 1988, 15 years before Dan Brown wrote his books that people are comparing it to. It was written before Chess was made cool by The Queen’s Gambit. In fact the entire time I was watching TQG I really wished I was watching Lily play chess.
I want this to be a series so badly but I wouldn’t be able to think about where you’d start adapting it.

Moderate: Body shaming
The main character is fat phobic towards lily but it was written in a very different time.
