I liked this more than I expected to like it. Both characters are interesting and have room to grow from this unusual relationship.

I'm rating this on my enjoyment level. I did have problems with some of it, but purely on entertainment level this was fantastic. I haven't read a manga I've enjoyed this much in a while!

This, like, is what it is. You'll groan and cringe but you'll also laugh. It's speedy reading for when you essentially want trash.

In order to help her father out of debt, Chiwa agrees to an arranged marriage with Hokuto, the president of the company she works at.

I have a weakness for romances, especially romances where the protagonists are thrust together due to circumstances beyond their control and where they slowly grow to understand/fall in love with each other. This, with its arranged marriage theme, takes that to the extreme.

Though this is a josei manga, there are a lot of shoujo themes running through this (it reminds me a little bit of Black Bird, but without the demons). From the first volume, it seems as though this could be a good bridge series between the two genres. I am in no way an expert on manga genres, however, and this is my first josei series, so I could be entirely wrong in that assessment. But that is my first impression.

Chiwa is your typical romantic heroine in many ways. She's a bit naive, a virgin with little experience with men, and has lofty visions for her idea of a perfect man. She also, however, can stand up for herself and speak her mind, and she does so on a few occasions. As I said, pretty typical romantic heroine, especially for manga. I'm looking forward to seeing her grow as a character.

Hokuto is also your typical love interest for this type of plot. Handsome, physically strong, sexual (but toes the line of appropriateness and consent), and a bit of a bastard. I'm sure one day I'll get sick of characters like that, but this is not that day. I'm looking forward to seeing him grow as well, though there have been hints of a deeper personality already. He seems to genuinely be trying with their relationship, whereas Chiwa has built a large wall. We'll see where it goes.

The art style is great, and I never found myself confused with transitions to other scenes, the way I have with other manga in the past. Everything flowed together nicely.

I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes, and seeing how their relationship grows and changes. :)
