La Planète des Singes est indéniablement un classique de la littérature de science-fiction. L'auteur regorge d'idées et d'inventivité pour comparer et critiquer les manques et les faiblesses de deux sociétés fictives - celle des humains de demain, et celle des singes de la planète Soror. Alors pourquoi seulement deux étoiles? Le livre, il faut dire, a quelque peu (beaucoup?) vieilli. Cela ne m'aurait pas gêné si le personnage principal n'avait pas été aussi agaçant mais même en essayant de recontextualiser le texte, je n'ai pas réussi à lui attacher une once d'humanité. Ni à lui, ni aux autres d'ailleurs, à l'exception de Zira. Dans un livre qui traite de l'humanité et de l'esprit, c'est quand même très dommage!

This book was so much better than I was expecting.
Yes, the science and the sexism and the racism hasn't aged great, but it isn't nearly as sexist, racist, and outdated as other Sci Fi novels from the same time.
The story is focused on showing the humanity in others, even in non-humans. It holds up a mirror for our treatment of non-human creatures, one that is still effective today.
While the world it creates is dated, the way the world is presented and the story unfolds are so pleasant that I wasn't bothered by the old-fashioned elements.
This book is a Sci Fi classic with good reason.
