This book was pretty good! I'm really glad I read it. Especially the last letter, that one almost had me sobbing. It wrapped things up so perfectly!

I really disliked Laurel, then I felt bad about disliking her. She was obviously suffering, trying to find her way in the world after the loss of her sister and the divorce of her parents. But I just couldn't understand her and it frustrated me.
The structure of 'Love Letters to the Dead' is strangely similar to 'Perks of Being a Wallflower', switch around the gender of the protagonists, pull yourself a bit closer to suicide and there you are. And yet I was compelled to keep going, you're reminded that life isn't simple, talking to people is so much harder than you always think it will be and it doesn't make sense.
She still annoyed me though.

Laurel comienza a escribir gracias a una tarea que le dejó su maestra de Inglés, que es escribirle una carta a alguien muerto. Kurt Cobain encaja perfectamente, esta muerto...igual que su hermana May.
Y después lo sigue haciendo, le escribe a Janis Joplin a Jim Morrison y hasta a Heath Ledger, por el momento ella desconoce que descubrimiento o bien le puede hacer escribirle a gente muerta, pero lo que si va redactando a detalles como es su vida en la nueva escuela con nuevos amigos y quizás su novio, su primer novio, sus padres divorciados, la tía Amy que ama a Jesús con todo el corazón, pero mas sobre May, su heroína.
Laurel se culpa constantemente por la muerte de su hermana, que hubiera sido un suicidio si el aire no hubiera soplado tan fuerte esa noche. Pero... ¿fue en realidad culpa de Laurel la muerte de May?
El libro se me hizo bastante parecido a Las ventajas de ser invisible, y esque los personajes y en sí la historia se parecen muchísimo, la tía que los hombres la maltratan, padres separados, amigos homosexuales que uno ama locamente al otro pero el otro no esta tan seguro, hermano muerto, un abuso, alguien drogado xD, el novio golpeador, citas a poemas/libros/música, y así podría seguir. Me gustan los libros que estan escritos en "cartas" y este no es la excepción, no voy a decir que lo amé porque no es así.
Fue muy predecible para mí, porque como he dicho se parece demasiado a otro libro y pues no hay mucho para la imaginación, simplemente estuvo bien.

I thought this would be one of those books you finished in an hour because you couldn't put it down, but I was wrong. I couldn't get into this book at all. I read well over half way through it and decided to stop because it never caught my attention. Very predictable, you can figure out the ending from reading the summary.

Creo que para muchos es dificil no compararlo con "Las ventajas de ser invisible, aunque mucho se dice sobre no juzgar a un libro por su portada, es inevitable dejarse llevar por la estética que se nos presenta en esta su primera edición, posteriormente un gancho más al libro es los personajes a los que se encuentran dirigidas las cartas, siendo fan de Morrison o de Kurt es inevitable que el consumismo adolescente se te despierte.
