3.5 stars but not enough to round to 4
This story dealt with some pretty tough issues - reappearance of a mother/wife who abandoned her family, job relocation, finding out you had a child you didn't know about, teen depression and mental illness resulting in hospitalization. I felt like Carr handled them with the care they deserved, although each of the issues was complex enough to have it's own book.
Sarah and Cooper's romance just doesn't grab me. I really WANT to be interested in them but they seem flat. Cooper is a great character while Sarah is not. Mac and Gina's romance is great, I was totally routing for them.
Can't wait to see what happens next in Thunder Point.

Yeah...so I'm addicted to another Robyn Carr series. Carr has improved in her ability to transition plots and multiple characters. I especially enjoyed Ashley's struggles and the spotlight on teenage mental health.

I find myself looking for things to clean, just so I can listen. On to book 3.

I have come to enjoy reading the 'Thunder Point' novels, especially the ones that deal with certain characters, such as Mac and Gina, which were the focus of this particular installment. The author begins by speaking of Coop and Sarah, two lovebirds that have decided to move things forward in their relationship. However, there is a catch, and Sarah's work may be affected as a result of her willingness to stay in Thunder Point. On the other side of town, Gina's daughter has just been dumped by her boyfriend, Downey, who goes to school out-of-town. As a result, she goes through a difficult time, landing in the hospital due to her depression. Mac then deals with his own dilemma, as the mother of his children comes back into the picture, throwing the entire clan into chaos, with Eve taking the brunt of it. Throughout all of the crises that each of the characters face, they all become stronger as a result, coming together to work as a team, and making their bond even fiercer. I love reading how these characters make each other the centre of each other's worlds, especially given that they've known each other for long periods of time. I just can't wait to see what the other 'Thunder Point' novels will bring about, it's always a page-turner for me!

Ugh, 2 chapters in I thought it was depressing and the writing stilted. There were other titles that I could invest the time in and enjoy. I stopped reading it.

Escapism at its best. This author is an amazing writer, and story teller, bringing a whole town and community together. We continue with Cooper and Sarah's romance and Gina and Macs.

We also have lots going on with Ashley (Ashley is Ginas daughter) in this book and the author takes on serious issues dealing teenage depression. Ashley felt her life was over when her boyfriend dumped her, she couldn't get out of bed or go to school or do everyday things. Ashley came through to the other side and got well, what an amazing job this author did.

Quote from this book. Ashley's group therapy session: "Some people will be unsuccessful at relationships with the right people. In fact some people are inexplicably drawn to people who will hurt them. But others will learn valuable lessons and graduate to positive, long term relationships with people who won't let them down or betray them. I'm not saying perfect relationships- I'm afraid there is no such thing. I'm saying positive, growing healthy relationships that can get them back on track when something derails them".

Ashley truly got stronger after going through this, was very emotional to read and very gripping.

And a little bit of Mac to Gina "the best place in my life is when I'm near you, when I'm holding you, when I'm spooning you in bed. That's my peace. That's my anchor. And you know what? I don't think it's going to be hard. I think it's going to feel like a huge relief" (Mac and Gina talking about getting married).

This author introduces couples in her first book and carries them onto the next book and so on. If you were going to try a book of this author I would really recommend starting at the beginning of a series.

This really didn’t introduce any new relationships, but it did take those from the first book a little further. Enjoyed it!

Was okay. Getting to know the characters of Thunder Point, that I'm now vested in what's going to happen to them next.
