عندما يهرب السفاح (أنخل) من قريته بعد مطاردة من الشرطة يصل إلى كوخ بعيد، ليجد فيه الصبي (باولو) يعيش مع والديه، ولأنه سفاح متمرس يقتل (أنخل) والديّ الصبي، ويأخذ على عاتقه الاهتمام بالأخير.
وفي هذه الأثناء يُبصر (أنخل) النور ويعرف طعماً جديداً للحياة، طعم الحب والنقاء والوفاء.

Se replonger dans la plume envoutante de cette merveilleuse auteure est toujours un plaisir.

Very mixed feelings about this book - both loved and hated it. This is a sign of a powerful story, however. This story challenges all readers' beliefs in morality and universal justice, as well as Stockholm syndrome and of course: the death penalty.

When I finished this book I thought the author must have written it just for me. I felt every heartache that she poured into it. It was one of those books that you didn't want to let go because it had taken you some place you had never imagined.
