This is one of the most thoughtful and calming explorations of grief and knowledge I’ve come across.

I loved getting to know the author and the world of mushrooms through this book. I feel like I learned a lot. I found her writing about her husband very moving.

This is a book of two parallel threads: the first on the journey through grief and mourning after the death of Woon's husband, and the second on her growing appreciation of mushroom foraging and how it opened her to new possibilities. I appreciated how the two threads surprisingly went well together, making for quite a unique read that combines an introduction to a subculture with an autobiographical account of how to deal with loss.

Good beginner info but I felt like this only scratched the surface of the real story the author wanted to tell.
