I am as protective of Rune as Brand at this point. He has quickly become one of my most beloved comfort characters. I want to wrap him in warm blankets and give him an endless supply of his favorite coffee and let him skip some of Brand's training sessions to sleep in with Addam. He needs to be protected at all costs, but I know Edwards has six more books planned, so all I can do is bite my nails (or maybe paint them with apple bitter) as I continue to follow this incredible series.

Thanks for the new hyperfixation, Edwards!

I love this series. It’s awesome. Intricate world building, amazing cast of characters. The only problem is how long it takes intricate books like this to write!!!!! I don’t want to wait years for the next book. KD Edward needs time magic to get books to us faster.

I really love how this series balances Rune's platonic and romantic relationships. The platonic relationship is just as important as the romantic one, if not more.

Plus the magic system is really cool. And I love how they just keep adopting kids (and adults). One big happy(-ish) found family.

The saga continues on beautifully. I liked some parts of this book better than the second one but I still consider the epilogue of the second book a work of art.

There's a new secret villain and the old secret villains. A lot is revealed in this book about the initial mystery of the Sun throne's fall. I had already figured out a part of it,

, but not really all the ramifications of it. But once again this book told an independent story and while it leaves me wanting more, there are no real cliffhangers. I'm happy leaving this found family living their life somewhere in their alternate universe while I wait for the next book to come out.

I really like the romance here even though it doesn't get a lot of committed pages. Rune's past makes him anxious of nudity, touching, and sex, and Addam is so good for him, kind and gentle. And how Rune completely has the hots for Addam - in my opinion because of Addam's kindness. While he considers Addam incredibly handsome, it's his personality Rune's the most attracted to. I could and would welcome Brand into the mix, but I'm very happy with this relationship.

“What do you suggest we do?” Addam asked. He removed his bathrobe and started to take a comfortably naked shower. “Sigils are useless. Will your sabre work in a null zone?”

“No. At least it never has before.”

“It's actually not a bad set up”, Brand said. “Every spell-caster will be at a disadvantage, but Rune and I have our training. We'd be safer if Rune wasn't so distracted by a penis, though.”

I snapped my gaze upwards.
