Wherein female desire is revealed to be the murderous and unnatural thing it is, by way of learned males first conferring amongst themselves and then educating the gullible (but ever so proper) narrator. Fortunately, she has the good sense to furnish her tale with many a stately sentence while also keeping her recounting of the main events quite concise for her time. - Not all writerly choices that would be encouraged today, but they balance each other out nicely enough to be remembered, I guess.

I listened to both the Audible Original full cast and the normal audiobook in the same month because I thought the audible original mighta been abridged because it was quite short but really it's quite a short book - which isn't detrimental to it. Some shorter books, you feel like sacrifices were made for the length, or that you want more from it, but this just felt good where it was it, you know? 

I think it's obvious that I did enjoy it, based on reading 2 editions in a short time frame 😂  A great read for moving into spooky season.
