- younger edward and alphonse are adorable and must be protected.
- i'm just living for the sense of humor in this series
- my favorite thing about the training arc is seeing human alphonse
- it broke my heart again seeing their flashbacks of their "attempt"

Oh this is the best volume yet. Not only do we get a very insightful flashback, but we get some great lore. Roy's plans are also unfurling and we even get a peek at one of the most memorable characters in the series.

I think this volume is very successful. I'm giving it the five stars.

Spoiler-wise,
SpoilerI'm glad we get our first peek at The Truth, this is very crucial for the rest of the plot and it's also just a peek at some of the most fun and interesting parts of the world building in this series.

This volume is largely back story but interesting back story. Here we learn how Ed joins the army and how the alchemy accident that takes body and limbs goes down which are highlights of the volume.

The fight sequences have little draw for me, but the alchemical theory, used as magic... that's why I keep reading these books. Well, that and the fact that my son is "encouraging" me to read them as fast as he does.

Action-packed, thickening plot, three-dimensional characters, and humor drizzled on each character, Fullmetal Alchemist is a book that should definitely be read by all. Left me with tears in my eyes and a warm heart for every character that you meet along Ed and Al's long journey.
