This novel was better than I expected it to be. The heroine was headstrong, which I like in my historical heroines, and the hero was a "monster" that no one wanted...which is also a characteristic I like in my heroes...especially my sexy scots. Anyway, the plot moved at a relative pace. There was a brief "misunderstanding" that made up a plot device that I despised but overall it was pretty good. I haven't read any of the others in the series but I plan to now.

The beginning of this book was really strong, and then it just kind of floundered into a mediocre ending. The premise was interesting - Tara is apparently very beautiful and that is the sole reason why Breccan maneuvered her father into forcing Tara to marry him. Tara, understandably, isn't too keen on being sold off like a prize animal and wants to be known, not just admired for her beauty. Unfortunately, I started to lose interest once it became apparent that Tara wasn't particularly interesting. Breccan was at times either overly considerate or a complete ass. I was hoping for some more groveling, which didn't happen. Also, there was also some "oh my gosh I *love* him/her" mental epiphanies which I kind of always hate because they tend to come way too soon. Show us, don't tell us! So this was a quick, kind of unremarkable story, but it wasn't bad, it just wasn't that great either.

Sweet wholesome book. The angst was apart from the reader so it was a very low-stress book to read.
I love how their relationship developed. He really had to understand that a wife is more than just arm candy, and I like how he was very against forcing a woman.

I received an ARC of this book.
This is book 2 of the Brides of Wishmore. I just read the first book so I was excited to get a copy of this one. In the first book you meet Tara who has run away from her fiance and believes she is in love with Ruary. At the end of the first book Tara's father tells her she is to marry their neighbor Breccan Campbell because Breccan has bought all his debts and will trade them for Tara.
So you can see why I wanted to read the 2nd book right away. I had to find out what happened. Well I did enjoy this book, like the first. Somewhat predictable in that Tara's reputation and rumors of an affair get in the way of a happy marriage. But luckily Breccan has a family member who tells him to get over it and enjoy the moments he can spend with his wife. Cute story with a happy ending.
I hope she continues with this series, I'm enjoying reading about these characters.

Lady Tara, has just lost the love of her life because of foolish actions. Now her sister is married, but she is shocked to discover that her father has already in deep debt because of his gambling, and she will have to pay the price...marriage to Breccan Campbell. However Tara, is not about to marry Breccan, so she runs away as fast as she can. Breccan, knows he isn't the most handsome of men. He is bulky, muscular and large, but desires a beautiful wife so that his children will be attractive. Breccan is ready to settle down and has decided on Tara for a wife. When Breccan hears that she has run away, he chases after her. When he finds her, she is dressed in boy clothing, and full of fire and passion. They come to a agreement, after she gives him two children, she is free to go to London. What begins as a simple agreement turns into a complicated mess, when Tara's heart gets involved. Tara knows what most people think of her, but Breccan makes her see the better side of others, and starts to open her eyes to desire and the power of true love...
I was hesitant in reading The Bride Says Maybe, after reading the first book ,and I found that Tara was my least favorite character. However after taking a chance, I learned to really love this one, and did I just fly through it like nothing. I almost thought it was a novella, it had seemed so short, but I must have read through it quicker than I realized. The story even though it is set in the Regency Era, it does have a highlander theme to it. Breccan and his family, have a castle of sorts, race horses, and carry on the traditions of the Scots. Many know how much I adore Highlanders, and Breccan was good enough to gobble up, I really loved his character. He has such a tough exterior, that most run away, but inside he is a lamb looking for someone to love him. He was sweet and charming, yet dangerously sexy. I really enjoyed seeing the variations of his character. He definitely had the alpha domineering side down pat, but you see a more in depth character of Breccan, one that endears the reader from the first chapter....I was cheering him on the whole way through!! Tara, wasn't as bad of a character as I envisioned. I did eventually grow to somewhat like her. It did take a while, but you start to see a softer side to her, that you never see in the first book of the series. She definitely has her own issues of course, but in this story the author did a great job in making Tara seem so human and real. She turned out to be a very likable character by the end. The story line was rich and packed with passion and a delicious courtship. The heat level is not too heavy, but I enjoyed have more emphasis on the "falling in love" aspect of the relationship. It definitely made for a quality read!!
Overall a delectable romance that is going to win your heart, from the sexy highlander, sweet animals that make you yearn for a pack of wild dogs, and a love story that is full of wit and charm!! ENCHANTING!!

A definite step up from The Bride Says No, The Bride Says Maybe definitely had some solid stuff to enjoy about it.
It made for light, easy reading. Although I did find the characters frustrating at times, I still liked them for the most part. I enjoyed that this story focused on the couple the story was about (unlike the previous book which divided its attentions far too much). I enjoyed the character growth here. This wasn't a great novel, but it took my mind off of things.
I wanted to like it more than I did, but it was a definite improvement upon the first book in the trilogy. (Times like these are when I want half star ratings. I would have rated the first book 2.5 and this one 3.5).
