i dipped in and out of this one as the stories are separate and there’s no running plot line - it was easy to take bit by bit and ideal for me as i got back into reading.

This book is a collection of the Greek myths, but also, after each retelling, explains the links to the Hellenic culture and customs. It was really enjoyable to read, though I had to do it in bits rather than one go (thinking of it as many many many short stories).

while I technically didn't read this book in chronological order, I've spent enough time with it that I think I deserve to count this as a book read for my yearly challenge thing. it gives me a migraine every time I look at it (thanks, college), but it's a treasure and robert graves is basically my hero now and i think i owe him my soul now, so five out of five stars.

Murder, incest, necrophilia, rape, rape and more rape... the Greek pantheon are a charming lot, aren't they?
