In un futuro (che ormai futuro non è più) post apocalittico, l'Inghilterra è governata dai fascisti,che tengono sotto controllo il popolo in ogni modo possibile e immaginabile. In questo clima dittatoriale, agisce V, un rivoluzionario anarchico che spera di distruggere l'attuale regime (anche attraverso la costruzione di alcuni suoi simboli come Westminster) e dare l'opportunità al popolo di ricostruire un nuovo ordine delle cose, sperando che non scelga di nuovo di essere schiavo del sistema.
Agghiacciante per quanto è veritiero, questo graphic novel denuncia sì, i regimi e le dittature, ma anche il fatto che è comunque il popolo a scegliere le sue schiavitù, a scegliere di essere sotto il controllo di qualcuno. Spetta al popolo ribellarsi e prendere in mano il proprio destino.
