The blurb for this book just screamed at me, “READ ME!”. I knew as soon as I read the blurb I had to discover for myself why a woman would hand over her baby to a complete stranger and then kill herself. It sure didn’t disappoint either.
The story flicks between Nicole, a high flying career woman in the weeks in the run up to her giving her baby away and Morgan, a totally unsuspecting stranger whose life is turned upside down.
Like Morgan, I was desperate for answers. As the police start looking into Morgan with suspicions turning on her, this made for a frantic read that I daren’t put down. I was interested in both these women, and their stories totally consumed me. I basically read it in two sittings as I couldn’t rest until I knew the outcome.
Woman On The Edge is a story that will have your heart racing whilst tearing through the pages. This is a book once started, you really won’t want to be disturbed. If so, it will be at that person’s peril. A white knuckled read if ever I’ve read one. The pacing, suspense, tension, ending, all of it ticked the boxes for me in this genre and would highly recommend it.
My thanks to Headline Books, NetGalley and Anne Cater for a readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

One day, Morgan Kincaid is standing in the subway, waiting for her train. A woman comes up to her, places her baby into her arms before jumping to her death. She is taken into police custody for questioning, where she finds out the woman is Nicole Markham, CEO of Breathe, a successful clothing line. No witnesses can corroborate her story, making her a suspect for murder. In order to clear her name, Morgan must try to find the connection between her and Nicole.
The book is very fast-paced and full of twists and turns. I was able to figure out what was going on in the end, but it was still a fun adventure to get there. It's one of those stories where you can't put it down because you need to know what is going to happen next. I like how the story was told in two POV, one in the present and one in the past. It was interesting to watch Nicole spiral into her paranoia. It was a wild ride trying to piece together how Morgan and Nicole were connected, I didn't end up figuring it out until it was revealed, which was nice. The ending was a bit rushed, but overall, a pretty entertaining read!

3.5 ⭐️. I flew through this. Very entertaining. I would have given it 4 stars a couple of years ago, but the plot was not very novel. I recommend it for a quick, thrilling read, though.

This book was an amazing debut novel! I was SERIOUSLY impressed by it. This book only took me two hours and one sitting to read, but I would have kept reading much longer if the book had been longer. I flew through the pages for the simple fact that I HAD TO KNOW. I loved the characters, and the culprit absolutely floored me - I had no idea who was behind everything, and my guess was entirely wrong, which is rare for me. Four and a half stars, rounded up to five. Brava!

The book starts out strong with Nicole jumping off the platform onto the train tracks after handing her baby to a stranger. I definitely wanted to know why a new mother would do such a desperate act. However, as the story progressed I started to lose interest. The story was just not compelling enough. The characters were not developed well and I failed to connect with them. The final reveal was lackluster as well.

I thought the premise was intriguing.
The story switches between Morgan in the present and Nicole in the past, leading up to the day they meet on the train platform. Morgan is very confused when she is approached by Nicole, panicked and dishevelled.
She is then shocked when the former CEO of Breathe, an atheleisure brand (wow) knows her name, throws her baby at her and jumps infant of the incoming train. Morgan has alot on her plate as she heals from her husband's suicide after he embezzled many people, even the police and her family thought she was in on it. She is scrutinised again when Nicole's suicide is called into question.
Morgan starts to get threats and odd things happen to her. She pushes the advice of her lawyer and the police away while she tries to find out what happened to Nicole. I loved that Nicole started her brand from scratch but she struggled from guilt of a past accident. I felt like alot could have been sorted out if she had been honest with Tessa and Greg about Amanda the baby. I thought the culprit did not make sense.
The book was rather slow at the middle and sped up near the end. I felt like the author was rushing the ending. Even though Morgan and Ben bond together through their odd experiences, the romance was weird. I would have preferred to see them as friends. But then taking care of Quinn would not wrap as nicely as it did. The overall message seems to talk about motherhood and how tough it is for women to balance everything.
Granted, Nicole probably had post-partum depression and the medicine was not helping. She held so much in and in the end becomes too paranoid. Making Morgan, a stranger the executor of her will and guardian of her baby felt unbelievable. Morgan feeling so much for Quinn was unrealistic.
This started well, fizzled at the middle and picked up towards the end. An okay thriller.

I LOVED this book and found myself needing to know more. How are Morgan and Nicole connected? Why didn't Nicole trust her family to care for Quinn? kept running through my head as I read this book.
The plot was fast-paced and full of twists. Each character was so likable it was hard to picture them doing terrible things to Nicole. I definitely did not see the end coming. The story is told from alternating perspectives and the short chapters make for an easy read.
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good family thriller full of unexpected secrets.
