Nothing makes you appreciate how precious life is more than someone who lived so much of it and can’t remember any of it.

There’s something inviting and warm about the way Lonergan writes even when his subject is as devastating as the subject of this play. I was shattered reading it and I’m sure I’d be just as shattered seeing it onstage, which I see as the mark of a great play — if it feels like you’re feeling its feelings as you’re reading it, you’re in for a wild emotional ride.

I love how Lonergan encapsulates the essence of his characters within their mere first few words.

Beautiful and depressing, knew exactly what I was getting into.
