If luck had currency, Alwyn Scribe would've been a millionaire. Or whatever its equivalent was in the godforsaken country he found himself in. What happens when you give a former outlaw the power to write stories?

An exciting adventure.

Alwyn is back with the Martyr and the duo are in for a whole lot of trouble. The king is unhappy which he frequently is especially when Alwyn knows his secret. And that means there's more war on the horizon. On top of that, the threat of a world ending looms large.

This is a fantastic book 2 and it can only get better. Or matter of fact, worse for Alwyn.

Absolutely PACKED with battles, blood, betrayals, secrets, and plenty of worldbuilding that expands on the scope of the first book. War is bad!! Religion is often bad (especially when it leads to war and conflict)! And religious zealots are bad (even if they're super hot and cool)!

The book is very slow at first, much like the first book. But it picks up about half way. There's a couple of really well done story twists and chapter closings however I personally find the past tense 1st person perspective lacking. I think i may prefered the series more if the main character was less of a Mary Sue and some level of personality beyond being edgy.
