Oh my goodness, I think this installment is my favorite yet! I could not put it down and finished it within the space of about two hours!
Enola Holmes finds her secretive lifestyle on the line when her elderly landlady is suddenly kidnapped. When the likes of Florence Nightingale and Enola's brother, Sherlock, become involved in the case, Enola must choose between her freedom and the life of someone she treasures.
I flat out loved this story. The series has been building toward a confrontation between Enola and Sherlock and while we didn't quite get it just yet, I love that some sense is finally pounded into Sherlock's head, to allow him to finally start understanding just why Enola adores and yet fears him.
The case itself that Enola must solve is perhaps her biggest yet, dealing with espionage, political scandal, and a war that everyone would just as soon forget about. I absolutely loved the twists and turns.
ETA (10/06/20): Reread this and still loved it! Not only for the Holmes siblings' shenanigans, but for the mystery featuring Enola's beloved housekeeper, Mrs. Tupper, and the appearance of Florence Nightingale. A fascinating way of injecting a bit of history into the story.

Don’t always enjoy the pieces in the writing that attempt to mimic the style of the era, but loved the spin on Florence Nightingale later life.

Didn't realise this was book 5 of a series - good middle school mystery starring the sister of Sherlock Holmes

So far I have loved all of the Enola Holmes mysteries. I can't wait to read #6, but will be sad to have the character end!

Happy to see that Enola has abandoned the repetition of “naughty words,” haha well she has added “unspeakable”. The excessive repetition of certain statements becomes tiresome. How ever the story is quite interesting

This was a fast paced case that Enola rocked! Sherlock needs to take notes.
