Angst. Love. Loss

I had to take several days to sit in my thoughts after finishing this book. I love a book that breaks you in a way that makes you so emotional, you can't quite work through your feelings all at once.

Vian and Nell meet as children when their parents end up living together. They are raised almost as step-siblings. After a tragic accident, fate tears them apart. Their lives are forever intertwined by family and memories.
The book unravels their story 5 years at a time. They lead separate lives, have different relationships, but somehow always find their way back to one another. Every 5 years they end up finding each other and are always forced to say goodbye, leaving another piece of themselves with the other.
This is a story about the power of timing. How you can meet the "one" at the complete wrong time. Perfect timing doesn't exist and it always comes with a sacrifice.
The choices that Vian and Nell make come at a deep price, but are always rooted in the love they have for one another.

I can't give too many details without spoilers, but this book will cause your heart to ache. It is tender, enduring, and beautifully written. You won't be able to put it down.

If you liked "Maybe Once, Maybe Twice" by Alison Rose Greenberg, this book is for you.
