I own several other editions of this anthology, and the 2023 version just didn’t move me like the others did. Out of the entire anthology, there were only 5 poems I felt might be worth going back to re-read.

5 stars for the three poems I read and liked, but only 2 stars overall since my taste did not align with the editor’s this issue. this is very sad for me and I will be looking for a previous issue that satisfies this.

Thank you to Scribner and NetGalley for.the Advanced Reader's Copy!

Available Sept 5th.

Short poems reign supreme in the newest edition of Best American Poetry, pithy statements that pack a punch. The shortness of breath captures the urgency of our current age, each moment counted and capitalized, each stolen breath a precious moment to hold against time. I greatly enjoyed it!
