I'd heard lots of Etgar Keret stories on This American Life and enjoyed them. I was happy to dive into this book and got what I was looking for: Lots of quiet moments and horrible situations thrown together into funny and bittersweet stories.

The perfect, unexpected blend of sad/sweet/funny. Also, if I ever meet Etgar Keret, I'm definitely going to ask for a fictional book dedication.

A lovely and witty memoir that makes for a good and quick read. Keret has a very compelling style, and it makes for lovely prose. A memoir is a memoir is a memoir, though... which makes me not as eager to call it a great book. I would recommend for anyone who is interested in non-fiction that doesn't carry a whole lot of weight, but certainly is an enjoyable read.

This was such an interesting and humorous memoir, it really caught me by surprise. This book takes place between the birth of Edgar’s son and the death of his father, what he considers the seven good years. I recommend if you are looking for a short and wonderful read.

To ako Keret dokáže vypointovať svoje poviedky je úplne o niečom inom.

- Karet is one of the most popular authors in Israel, and the years referred to in the title are from the birth of his son until the death of his father.
- funny and poignant
- dark and absurd
- unpretentious and chatty
- a writer well-reviewed by some of my favourite authors - Roddy Doyle, George Saunders, John Green, Salmon Rushdie

Slight but lovely musings on life, death, children, Israel, Poland, and writing.
