Hoo boy...this was a hard one for me. North & South, Dirty Dancing, and Ghost were integral parts of my childhood and adolescence, and I have loved Patrick Swayze for as long as I can remember because of them. This book made me unexpectedly emotional, particularly as I chose to listen to the audiobook, read by Patrick himself. I highly recommend reading it this way, if you get a chance. Patrick is very good at reading, particularly given how sick he was at the time it was recorded. It feels very natural, like you're just listening to him tell stories about his life, rather than being read to.
I saw that the release date for this book was a couple weeks after Patrick passed away. I can't even imagine how much more emotional I would have been had I picked this up when it first came out.

This book was an amazing book. The only sad thing about this book is that I knew the ending. This book told of their love story and the amazing life Patrick Swayze lived.

I love the movies Dirty Dancing and Ghost and subsequently was a fan of Patrick Swayze. I was intrigued to read this book, especially since it appeared to be about and written by both Swayze and his wife. However, the beginning chapters detail how he came across as egotistical because he went on and on about himself and how he overcame this. Unfortunately, I do not think he did. The book was not well written and included little about or written by Niemi. Although it is an autobiography it came off extremely "me,me,me, I'm so great", which is not something you want in such a book. I did not walk away thinking more highly of Swayze, in fact it has made me fear I will view two favorite movies less favorably now that his comments are in my head.
