Bloodline was my first book to read by Jess Lourey and it won’t be my last! What a fun and creepy read! I got a lot of Get Out vibes from this, and I loved it! Joan moves with her fiancé to his home town and finds that there’s something not quite right about this small community. Joan seemed a little too clueless for her own good sometimes, but I loved her best friend and her moxie! There were so many layers to the story as we learned more about the history and operation of the small town. I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery and wanted it to continue! It blows my mind that this book was inspired by a true story! Overall, such an enjoyable book with devious characters and a winning mystery! Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer Publisher for my advanced review copy!

3.5 stars rounded down. Very Stepford Wives with a little Rosemarys baby. Interesting read. Amazon prime first release pick, could have been worse

The Truman show meets the Stepford wives in this psychological thriller. Every moment you question what the end result will be and who is on what side. And IT WAS INSPIRED BY A REAL EVENTS. (I have recently learned "INSPIRED BY TRUE EVENTS" for this story was VASTLY misleading.

Joan follows her sweetheart home to his home town after finding out she is pregnant and a mugging scares her. This new town is a little Eden. Everyone is happy and close nit and a real "Community". But Joan notices the cracks and the weirdness the whole town exudes. But the whole town knows how to play their cards and now even people Joan knows outside of the town think she is just losing her mind and not acting right. Is Joan wrong or the town? If its the town, is there any hope of escape?

Entertaining enough, but I found it predictable. Perhaps I've just encountered stories of this theme too many times to be surprised by the twists and big reveals

Creepy as heck! It was a good read, even though it was hard to get into. The timeframe of the story kept confusing me but I found the premise good and something I've read before. The main character was developed well but I think it could have gone deeper in the supplemental characters. The creepy factor was so apparent, it was just hard to believe others didn't pick up on that, like her friend.
