maisoncetacea's review against another edition
3.0
I read this for a research methods seminar required for my Women and Gender Studies major. Having taken sociology courses as well as gender studies courses with sociology professors, the content of the book is pretty boiler-plate Feminist Methods of Social Science Research 101. If you're unfamiliar with doing feminist research, it's accessible and clear. They don't become bogged down by theory, they simplify the numerous strains of feminist thought into digestible--if not deceptively discrete--categories, and they outline some good guiding points for conducting ethical feminist research. I generally recommend an inquiry into feminist methodology to anybody doing research because it's not just about studying ladies or whatever; it's a noble pursuit into doing better science that acknowledges power and delineates the implicit assumptions of objectivity being inscrutable. Worth a read for novices.
