Although I cannot put my finger on it, there was something missing in this book. IT should have been cute but it wasn't. The people were meh and I could not find any connection.

The cover looked cute but that was the only cute or nice thing about the book. The characters were not likable neither was the plot romanticized enough for a chick-lit light read.

I really wanted to be in love with this book. Sadly, that did not happen.
But I did read every part of it, so let me tell you what I thought was the most important thing: THE WRITING WAS GREAT. It flowed really well, it was so easy to read, but at the same time it felt elevated throughout. I liked the pacing they went with, and the voice of the narrator was also well suited. I think the characters felt vivid, they were placed on the page nicely. But I think that also took away from my impression of the book cause some character’s trademarks weren’t my cup of tea and I had a bit of a hard time connecting because of it.
However, this book seems like a solid, fast read, if not for anything else, but simply because of the writing style.

Misogyny? In my “feminist” rom-com? It’s more likely than you think.
This is the worst book I’ve ever read and I’ve literally had to read Michel Foucault for school multiple times.

Just awful. All of the language and the lack of connection to anyone.

This book was a mixed bag for me. To be honest I would have DNF'd it if I hadn't listened to the audiobook in its entirety during setup for an experiment I had on campus.
I have to say that I really liked Angel as a character. I loved her relationship with her community and her son. I loved her passion for her work. The only thing she did that I found questionable was remaining with the Duke. Otherwise she was a very well written and moving character.
I didn't like the Duke or Angel's relationship with the Duke. He makes all the wrong choices in terms of how he treats Angel. He absolutely has an alcohol issue he refuses to fully own up to and his sense of ethics and morals is very flawed. He may have made the right decision in the end, but there wasn't any evidence as to why he would change. It seemed abrupt and without real cause.
In addition I sort of felt like there was too much going on. There was sexual harassment at work, Angel's child struggling with severe asthma, the Duke's drinking, blackmailing, a backstabbing and vindictive Ex. I think if the plot had been simplified a bit or the Duke had begun to assess his actions and change a little more slowly. To sort of top off the whole situation I felt like the epilog jumped way to far for the amount of time between its start and the end of the book.

Gonna add a review without a rating because I only got to page 5 and I just could not force myself into hate reading this book. As a native Spanish speaker, the Spanish in this is awful.
