What is this book, and why? It's pointless, meandering, pseudo-intellectual... It's one of those books where I had to ask myself if anyone actually likes this? As in, enjoys reading this?

Beautifully written, with exquisite imagery and interesting musings on the nature of existence. Add to that a marvelous vocal performance on the audiobook and this is, admittedly, a well-crafted book. However, it just felt too cold and ultimately unsatisfying for me to really enjoy it.

I am a man who seemingly has no passion whatsoever, no friends, somehow has had lots of girlfriends. Everything is seen by me. Expect short, cut up sentences like this. Expect also long, run on sentences describing various events and memories from a childhood, but they're really the same two memories on a loop.
Look, I get it... It's profound and designed to make us ponder what it means to be human and what is life and should we want to live forever. But god, did it have to be so bland?
"We were getting along pretty well, he and I. Maybe it was the broccoli."

Not my favorite DeLillo, but it has a lot of the right elements. If it didn't drag so much in the second half, I would have enjoyed it more.

I had a few issues with this book. It was not the writing or the concept of the book, both of which were great. I just had very little empathy for the narrator's character. The book is certainly thought provoking and full of great imagery and I would recommend reading it.
