REVIEW: you know those trashy tv shows you can’t help but watch? this is that. 6 books in and I couldn’t tell you a thing about this world, but hey, for the most part I had a good time.
Also this was about ~400 pages too long (seriously 700 pages is just way too much for this I’m sorry)

this is just cruel that this isn’t out yet

i need to start off by saying all six books in this series couldve been shorter. the repetitive thoughts and dialogue was a bit much.

over all i enjoyed the series once i started reading it for what it was. as someone who is big fan of reality tv this was my book version of that. frustrating, addictive and makes me feel better about myself.

about this book specifically it was the weakest out all the books. however seeing aran happy at the end for like ten percent of the book was a welcome plus.

the characters all had some kind of change to their personalities. esp the kings! the author just change their personalities and gave some non satisfying grovelling so it was like who are these ppl.

the romance was mate based so even when aran fought it there was still attraction. the relationship building was fast and slow. fast in the way they forgave each and slow for the men to get the sticks out of their asses and to realize they care. it felt like the author was going for “they are psychotic that’s why it work” angle but i don’t think they were all the way unhinged for it to work for me. the book cute but psycho did that pretty well. like they were unhinged in their devotion so it made sense. in this book it felt half assed. one of kings became the gooey cuddly bear type and i was like huh????
the twins with one the kings each was so rushed. theyve known each other for YEARS! and NOW they see them? please! also how the hell did the kings go from being obsessed with each other to arguing and hitting each other??? their relation was so cute all it needed was aran to be included and cherish her as well. it was so weird. like a complete one eighty.

the war was so boring to read and repetitive. there was one battle that was interesting. the rest repetitive esp from depressed time is hazy pov of aran. i get it she’s depressed but the author didn’t explore that. even gave a magical reason for it which is annoying. i would’ve preferred if we spent time exploring her depression and substance abuse issues without linking it to
a part her soul missing. idk it just felt like a lazy way out.

i enjoyed the humour at times but it was annoying at other times. i kept thinking can we have a serious conversation? right now? please?

anyway i would still other books by this author. i just hope she doesn’t do anything like the punishment in book two.

This series is probably one of my favorites. Jasmine is a hilarious and incredibly talented author. I hope she continues this series with Jinx.
