Sometimes I have sudden cravings and waiting to order this book so I could finally read it, was almost a form of torture. Even though they are filled with cliches and are maybe not that original anymore, I have a truly soft spot for the more classical YA’s where a normal girl discovers she is special and an amazing guy notices it too.

In a lot of ways this book is clearly the middle book in a trilogy. The plot isn’t moving that fast and the characters are clearly moving from A to B to get ready for the finale. In a lot of ways there’s also a lot happening in this book that just takes time: Megan is learning, growing, failing, fighting, falling, standing up and finding her true power.

And it’s a joy to witness that journey. Even though she is special and powerful and has a role to play, she’s also very relatable and human in a way. She makes mistakes, messes things up and is at times a little reckless. It’s however easy to identify with her and to feel for her. And not just for her, also for the circle of friends she’s surrounding herself with.

Her story is written down in a very easy to read writing style, without it really feeling childish or simple. I flew through the book and just didn’t wanna stop reading anymore.

I can’t wait to see how everything will come together and reach its climax in the last book.

Absolutely fantastic

I adored this book. Megan was so strong but still so worried about how her powers affect those around here. I love Oanen and his devotion to Megan. There were so many fantastic part in this book. I laugh and definitely cried. It was so good

This world is fantastic and can’t wait to read more. All the side characters are fantastic too. I almost hope there is a spin off with a certain couple that I won’t specify because of spoilers.

Definitely recommend this.

Man I thought I loved the first book! This book topped the first book! I just love all the characters. I love how much Oanen does for Megan. This book will have you laughing, saying aww, and say “Say what now!”. I can’t wait for the next one.

3.5 stars. Totally onboard with Megan's frustrated and anger at Adira and the council for their lack of info and very happy each time she gave them what-for. Also wasnt annoyed with her constant attempts to push Oanen away (altho glad they never amounted to much) because it made sense that she didnt want to injure him.

4 stars — There were parts of this book that I just absolutely LOVED!! And then there were parts that frustrated me…hence why it’s slightly lower rated than book 1.

Megan was still a snarky delight. I really loved that there were places where she could have reacted like a typical teen heroine by getting upset and then hiding her feelings, but instead she chose to confront the problems and be upfront with her feelings. SO REFRESHING. OMG. COMMUNICATION!!! YAYYYY!!! I get that that’s not typical for teens maybe, but I do get tired of never having a good role model in this area. I also loved how caring and concerned she was for others, from her friendships with Eliana and Fenris, to her interactions with the humans.

Unfortunately Megan countered this maturity with her stubborn insistence on being right and looking to everyone else for answers about being a fury. On the one hand, I got her frustration with the way they were handling it. But she didn’t even try to look within herself and explore her powers. She just feared them. I was hoping that she would grow in the book and figure things out, but she was more just slapped on the head with the answers. It was somewhat unsatisfying, because it’s her main struggle throughout the book. I did love what we learned about her powers and stuff though! And I did feel for her, even if I was frustrated with her.

Megan and Oanen’s relationship just got hotter and more adorable in this book. I LOVE the chemistry between them! I also really love that I feel like they genuinely care about one another, beyond whatever magic might be in the background. Unfortunately, I also got super tired of the back and forth between them. I mean, I got it…I got Megan’s fear. But at a certain point I was like, here we go again… I’m excited to see what the next book brings for them.

So yeah, still loving the series, just got frustrated with some parts of the book…
