i got kind of bored in the middle but the ENDING??? holy fuck i am actually sobbing so unwell i cannot. i probs won’t continue on in the series bc this ending was heartbreaking but also kind of a good way to end imo. omg i need to stop crying now omg

I will say, the last chapter was a very nice read and feel good wrap-up, so I will put a star just for that. But that was it. Reading this book was excruciating. I really pushed myself to get to the end, just to be done with it. I cannot believe the amount of times I rolled my eyes from the painful amounts of sappy descriptions of love. I love romance, but this was so forceful and shallow it was suffocating. The only character I liked was Poseidon, and we saw him for like two pages. Everyone else was excessively immature and depthless, brash and remorseful, no two neurons linked together except maybe Valerian until he got
assaulted
. Incredibly frustrating to keep reading hoping at least one of them will have some sort of enlightenment, just to end up extremely disappointed by the end. And frankly I'm still pretty disturbed by the overly sensual physical descriptions of each character, even when being described by their own family member.
Things like describing how your sister's dress clings to her body as she enters the room feel overly incestuous for no reason.
. I wanted to love it, but how can you be seriously taken by a romance when the main character keeps thinking about the curves of their partner's body while facing immediate impending danger? It just kept pulling me out of it.

let's say i wanted to dnf this at 90% because i knew the inevitable. this definitely puts a spin on the original story of Hyacinth and Apollo! im glad i didn't have to cry for too long
