Eight Cousins is the story of Rose, a little girl who has been orphaned, who comes to live with her maiden aunts. She is surrounded by male cousins who take her in as a playmate. I love the look at life in New England after the Civil War, especially with the seafaring uncles.

I loved Little Women and read if a couple of times. I just never loved the sequel novels as much, including Eight Cousins.

Not as good as Little Women, still worth the read.

A lifetime favorite

One of my favorite childhood books, Rose and her family take us back to a simpler, lovely world. An absolute help for anxiety!

This was a relaxing and enjoyable read. I loved Rose and her relationship with her uncle. I had so much fun getting to know her crazy, but good hearted, cousins. I don't always agree with the way the adults handle the kids, but it's an older book and I can recognize their good intentions. It was a sweet story.

*I listened to the audiobook narrated by Erica Collins (audible) and it was very well done.
