I love a good first contact story, and this is one of the best. It features a "shipwrecked in an unknown land" adventure with very sympathetic human characters trying to make sense of the surreal, omnipresent horror of the unknowable. Gripping stuff.

UTISAK (summary) - Još jedan prikaz pokušaja uspostavljanja kontakta sa vanzemaljskom civilizacijom i prokaz osnovnog problema da mi ljudi sve sagledavamo iz našeg "zemaljskog" konteksta. Likovi su arhetipovi naučnika i kao takvi zastupaju stavove u skladu sa granama nauke koje proučavaju. Odlični opisi vanzemaljske arhitekture.

I wanted to love this. And the last quarter of the book, I think I did, because there they finally started getting into the socio-cultural context of the world they were on. But I felt nothing for the main characters - heck, we don't even know most of their names - because we know nothing about them as people. We only know how they react on this new planet, Eden, but that's all. It is really just a glorified scenery description with some observation of native sapiens.

An adventure story with political overtones. A bit long I’m description and short on action. An interesting story with big ideas. I am going to read more from this author.
