The illustrations and story are beautiful, warm, and appealing, with wonderful cultural representation and a glossary in the back. This is also a great example of a book that includes a mother's pregnancy without making the whole story about becoming a big sibling.

This book made me smile because page after page I thought about my marriage and how we show love to each other with actions as well as words.

A wonderful book about "saying" I love you with actions.

So cute and I love the illustrations! Wish it had a pronunciation guide to go with the glossary because I’m sure I did not say any of the Mandarin correctly :/

This is my grandson's favorite book. We read it every night he stays. Even though we are not Chinese, his mom is not pregnant, he is a boy, and my husband and I are not grey, he sees his family in each of the characters. There's Granny, and Papaw, and Mommy, and Chayten and Soren! He loves the dragon and the soccer ball and everyone eating. It's a delightful little book with a great story about a family who shows that little acts of love and the grateful attitude we bring to our behaviors to each other is just as powerful as using our words to express our love.

As a child of immigrants growing up as a Chinese American, this story reflects my upbringing and relationship with my family so accurately. The writing in this book is gorgeous with the illustrations to match. Nicole Chen's beautiful words express how love is communicated across generations through actions rather than words in some households where words of affirmation aren't so typical. I love this book so much!
