Such a waste, such a waste! The first book was mind-blowing, and then the rest of the series goes downhill.

I'm feeling conflicted about this book... on one hand, it's grand and epic in scale... and I loved the way the world of Fionavar came to life. Kay lovingly created a world with people you care about...

On the other hand, for me the series seemed too peak in the middle book.. this one seemed more about tying up loose ends in a way that left me feeling unsatisfied. After all this build-up the final battle felt anti-climactic and the way everybody seemed to end up with a new love interest in the end just felt forced.

This book had some beautiful moments. It also happened to bore me almost the whole time.

This was great. Book 1 was compelling. Book 2 threw me and I didn't love it. Book 3 redeemed all the awkwardness of Book 2 and I'd definitely recommend this series. Its very much a story of forgiveness, repentance, and redemption. It does not come that way easily. There is great cost and sacrifice, great love and tremendous hate.

I listened to the audio version. I would not recommend this to be listened to within earshot of kids under 12. I'm not one for censorship typically but it might be best to at least listen completely before making a decision. There is some content that sneaks up that would not be appropriate and could create a great deal of confusion. If you have questions about that, send me a private message.

I would definitely recommend this for most adult fantasy enthusiasts.
