immersive, character driven story about a tragedy that captures the attention of conspiracy theorists and misguided web sleuths.

burned through this in a day, i love books that have me examine my own relationship with true crime.

I was really excited to get an ARC of this book, especially because I didn’t know what to expect. The premise of a school shooting initially turned me off because I didn’t want a depressing read. But this turned out to be a great mystery involving the event and the perspectives of the people impacted. The author did a great job with pacing and time jumps between chapters helped build suspense. You get pieces of the story but the truth isn’t revealed until the end. I really enjoyed this surprise giveaway and would check out future books by this author.

This book was a slow journey through the aftermath of the Stonesmere school shooting which seemingly takes from conspiracy theories that form after real school shootings have taken place. It was a bit difficult to follow as the POV and timeline switched back and forth so many times, but I guess it wasn't meant to focus on how this event affected just one person.

I liked that each chapter was short. It made for a quicker read even given the nature of the topic. And the last chapter just about brought me to tears. I was a bit confused at how Ava's POV could be included. But I'm grateful that it was there.
