i don't really know how to feel about this book. i liked the writting style an the fact that it was a queer story. i did finish it in a few days, but there were quite a few things that made me uncomfortable. maybe i was just an innocent kid so i don't relate to the characters as much. the friendship was so toxic, it bothered me a lot tbh
i did try to read the portuguese version first as i feel that would have been closer to the original book but i could only find it in brazillian pt. translation may have played a part as well

This story about the obsession of a young girl with isora an other girl. I found the relationship between the two interesting. However the gross language became a bit too much for me at times. I found the main characters not very loveable. The beginning of the story was rather simple and nothing really happend. The ending of the book came out of nowhere for me.

Dogs of Summer is a tale about two inseparable friends which paints a crass, real and awkward picture of girlhood, sexuality, friendships and childhood. The writing carried an innocent but sometimes dolt, which aptly represented the narrator's age. Overall the plot barely had much going on, until the final act.
If you want to learn about a young girl spending her summer days idle with her friend in their youth one can pick this up.
