Bet ji juk to nedarė.

What a good mystery. Miranda's married ex is found murdered in her bed, and Miranda is subsequently charged with murder. After being let out on bail by a mysterious donor, Miranda is trying to piece together the puzzle of the crime. When multiple attempts are made at her life, Miranda realizes that she is in danger. As more details come out about Richard and the community at large the more puzzling some things become.
I enjoyed the story but didn't feel like I connected with the characters as individuals. The part of the story was trying to determine who was the murderer. For that reason I choose to give this book a rating of 3.5 stars.

It was a good book, loved the ending, didn’t suspect the real killer till the end.

This is one of Ms. Gerritsen's early books that I grabbed on sale. While I like her later books better, I appreciate the Maine setting and her writing. The mystery was pretty good: Miranda has broken off her affair with her boss, a married man when his body is found with a knife in his chest on her bed. His brother arrives and becomes involved in finding clues about the murder. However, I didn't like the romance here. It detracts from the rest of the story, so I give this book 3 1/2 stars rounded up.
