4.5 i THINK
it's really hard to decide wether this is a 5 or a 4.5 star book knowing this series just gets so much more insanely better with the next two books but i guess that's the curse of a reread.
but genuinely i had so much fun, the pacing of this book is so much better of the first one. yes is has some slow parts but it's almost unnoticable because everything is so fun.
i genuinely think all three main characters have such great stories in this book, percy's obviously being the most familiar, since we as a reader know what he's missing. i do think hazel is one of the strongest characters with probably the strongest backstory in the heroes of olympus series. everything that unfolds is just so good and (most) things click into place throughout the story.
imo the character arcs are incredibly earned (especially franks and hazels) and it doesn't feel unnatural at any point.
yeah just a really, really great book overall and already an insane stepup from book one.

I have missed Percy’s POV so much. This boy is so out of pocket sometimes, does it shock me? No. But do I have a good time reading it? Hell yes!

Literally cannot explain how happy I am to have Percy back. Even with his memory gone for over half of the book, him being there was just perfect. (How am I gonna deal with the next 3 book series of Riordan’s that aren’t centered on him???)
Percy’s opening line was the most Percy opening line I could have hoped for. Leo was a great sarcastic filler in The Lost Hero, but I definitely missed his commentary. I love every character he brings to the table, and I also really like how they are spaced out so you get to love them on their own time. Hazel and Frank might have been pushed to the background or Leo and Piper might have been pushed to the background. These books both gave me the opportunity to love them all. I’m so excited for the 7 of them to meet next book omg
I would probably read Riordan’s grocery lists, because his writing is just so easy to read. The fun spin he brings to mythology, the banter, the ace characters. In the previous book I didn’t really understand the connections between the Romans and the Greeks, but this one I got so much better. I definitely prefer Camp Half-Blood to camp Jupiter, but I see the appeal of both.
It was so nice to see Nico, if it was only for a little while. He seems so much more mature, and I’m very excited for Percy and him to reunite. The Bianca storyline also seems unfinished, but maybe that’s just me being hopeful...
Every time I read Riordan’s writing I feel so light and constantly think about how much I love to read. I’m so excited to continue with the Heroes of Olympus, and for reading every other book of his!!
