It's the winter special. Not so much actually happens, and it's a lot of setup for Silver Flame.
I enjoyed getting to read other POVs, the silly moments, the sad moments. I wish there was more of a plot line and not justFeyre opens an art studio whilst Cassian angsts over Nesta and Illyria .
This did make me start to dislike Feyre and Rhys just a little, it definitely left me ready to focus on other characters now.

The vibes of this one are very different from the rest of the series so I can see why some people don't enjoy it as much. This is definitely more of a cozy fantasy. It is Winter Solstice and everyone is just gathering together to celebrate. There isn't really any action (nothing really happens) but there's character growth and just comfy, cozy time together. I really enjoyed this and wish I would have waited until December to read it.

Compared to the previous books in the series, this one was pretty dull; it’s the transition book, from the war with Hybern from the first books of the series to the wrapping up of loose ends that I imagine will come up in the last book.
There was a lot of talking and reflecting about the horrors of battle and how the characters remain scarred, physically and emotionally, from it. The book is more of a chance to share their current mindset after this horrific event and how their relationships are affected by it.
Rhys and Feyre’s relationship is still lovely- not very realistic because they face no challenges or drama, but still very sweet.
There was almost no mention of Mor’s revelation from last book as well, something I wish had been delved into deeper- hopefully it will in the next book.

how do you write a holiday special and somehow miss all the things that make holidays special??
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again but intentionally marginalizing your characters just so that your non-marginalized main characters can get brownie points for liberating their inferiors is disgusting and completely uninteresting as a plot point. Genuinely so tired of the whole plot line of Rhys and cassian trying to integrate women into the fighting force. It MIGHT work if they had any kind of interaction with the women AND if there was literally any reason for misogyny to exist in the fae but they don’t and there’s not.

A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J Maas - Book 3.5 in the ACOTAR series.
While this was definitely not my favourite book in the series, it was an easy read and quite welcome after AOWAR. I enjoyed the multiple point of views and it felt like I got to know the characters even better.
